Summer Reading 2018

May 17, 2018 | Resources | Reading | Spiritual Growth | Relationships by Lisa Degrenia

Summer’s a great time to curl up with a great book. I’ve found these two especially insightful and wanted to share them with you. I look forward to your insights and “ah ha’s.”

Chasing Francis: A Pilgrim’s Tale by Ian Morgan Cron

Pastor Chase Falson has lost his faith in God, the Bible, evangelical Christianity, and his super-sized megachurch. When he falls apart, the church elders tell him to go away: as far away as possible. Join Chase on his life-changing journey to Italy where, with a curious group of Franciscan friars, he struggles to resolve his crisis of faith by retracing the footsteps of Francis of Assisi, a saint whose simple way of loving Jesus changed the history of the world.

The Anatomy of Peace: Resolving the Heart of Conflict by The Arbinger Institute

Through a moving story of parents who are struggling with their own children and with problems that have come to consume their lives, we learn from once-bitter enemies the way to transform personal, professional, and global conflicts, even when war is upon us. An international bestseller that instills hope and inspires reconciliation.

Current small groups are welcome to discuss the books on their own. You’re also welcome to form a new book club for 1 or both books. (Let me know if you do!) I’ll also be scheduling some book club discussions throughout the summer at the parsonage, the church, a local coffee shop, or some other fabulous place you might recommend. Happy Reading! – Lisa <><
